Everyone sees the exact boundary
When a card can actually be charged, each person approves a permission capped at their own share — never anyone else’s amount, never more than they agreed. When it can’t (a register, a checkout page, a paper bill), the screen says plainly that no card was charged and records the agreement instead.

Never charged twice. Never left guessing.
Charging only starts once the rule is satisfied, and cards are charged one at a time, not all at once. If a result comes back unclear, Sutra checks with the payment company before ever trying again, so nobody is charged twice by accident. And if only some cards go through before something fails, the receipt says exactly that — it never claims everyone paid when they didn’t.
The signed receipt names, for each person, whether their card was charged, wasn’t, or still needs paying in person or at checkout.
